Make Waves at your library - READ
We have many fun things planned for this summer so come in and join us! You can participate in the summer reading program in many different ways once you register. You can come to programs, or turn in reading logs for chances to earn prizes. To get your T-shirt do 7 out of the 9 activity sheets in the packet and turn it into the library. There is even a special field trip for teens only to go rafting at Ohiopyle!
Movie Making
This year we will be breaking into small groups to make different movies. All types of movies are acceptible, it is fine if some of you want to try making an animated movie or Machinima instead of live action.
We will have movie making sessions on Wednesdays from 1-3. Each week we will work on a different aspect of the movies from script writing to editing the final product.
On August 20 at 4:00, we will have a film festival/ awards presentation. After viewing all of the movies, the audience will vote on the best video. All movies will be put onto the library's website.
You can participate in the video screening without coming to the movie making sessions if you have your own equipment. You will still be eligible for prizes if you complete the summer reading program by filling out the registration at the beginning of the program, and fulfilling by July 27th.
Crafts and Activities
This year we will be offering activities after the Movie Making session on Wednesdays from 3-4. Check out the schedule to see what we will be up to, but come dressed to get wet!
Rafting Trip
We have a limited number of tickets available to go rafting on July 27th. The library will take a bus to Ohiopyle, and lunch will be provided. The rafting tour is guided by Laurel Highlands River Tours. Life vests are a MUST and will be provided by the company along with the river guides. The tour will take between 2-6 hours. Read 5 books or 600 pages, then turn in your reading log by July 17th to earn an entry in the drawing. The participants will be notified July 19th and given parental permission slips.
